The film “Despicable Me” is an animated comedy written by Ken Daurio and Sergio Pablos. Daurio has worked on films such as “Horton Hears a Who” and “Santa Clause 2.” Pablos has worked on films such as “Tarzan” and “Hercules.” This film is about a villain named Gru who aspires to be the greatest. To achieve this goal he must adopt three girls in the process and the whole film follows the events that go on between these to parties. This film is very funny and uses its humor and its depreciation of crime to attract the audience. Its animation is also used to attract the audience. This movie is meant for everyone with a sense a humor and anyone that knows the value of hard work. This film is trying to communicate the message that hard work will pay off in the end and even if people don’t appreciate your work at first, there is always someone who will. A value that is presented in this movie is the importance of family. We see how Gru puts his own personal success aside just to be there for his daughters. I think this film shows how God cares for us like Gru cares for his kids. At first Gru was only using them but in the end he learned to love them and he saved them. God also loves us and put all His efforts to save us. His daughters represent us because we too are taken ransom by the devil or in this case Vector. However, God still manages to save us and I think this is how this film displays the story of salvation.

“Despicable Me” was a Universal Picture directed by Pierre Coffin, “Pat and Stan”, and Chris Renaud, “Ice Age”. The story follows Gru, a villain who is trying to maintain his reputation as the worlds most evil villain. Gru finds himself in competition with a new villain named Vector. To beat Vector Gru decides that he must adopt three orphan girls to help him carry our his plan. Once they have served their intended need however, Gru finds himself attached to the girls and trades his life of crime for a life as a father. Since this film was animated, it was able to push the boundaries on slapstick comedy which all audiences find amusing. The moral and vales that are communicated are also universal and timeless. The idea of a paternal love being so great that a man will be willing to sacrifice his greatest possessions for them. The similarities between Gru’s and God’s sacrifice are obvious. Like Gru, God gave up his greatest possession, Jesus, to save his children that he so greatly loved. Though the decision to choose something with superficial inferior value may seem illogical, the compelling urge to chose humanity over Jesus is basically a fathers love.

Pixar continues on its journey with another great animated film, Despicable Me. It was directed by Pierre Coffi, who is also known for his work with “We’re Back! A Dinosaur Story”. Helping bring the film to life with their voices were actors such as; Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Julie Andrews, and Kristen Wiig. The soundtrack was put together by the very popular, Pharrell Williams. A lot of attention was focused on this film because of all these big name celebrities. It brought in a very large range of audiences.
Pixar still manages to out shine the rest of the animation companies, especially with all the transitions from 2D films to 3D. It truly changes the way audience connect with the movie. They actually feel like they are in the story, they feel more attached to the characters. As the plot seems to unfold all around the viewer, they can almost touch this animated world. It’s almost like the viewer themselves are playing a role in the film.
This movie was intended for children, most animated movies are, but because of this strong cast, and popular soundtrack producer the film was watched and loved by people of all ages. It’s great for a family movie night, innocent for the kids, funny for the teens, and heartwarming for the adults.
The film portrays the value of the transforming power of love. Gru, the “evil” main characters attitude towards others is change completely by the love of three young orphaned girls. They show him compassion and kindness; this flips his outlook on being evil. He learns that caring about others also helps better you in the long run. The three girls look up to Gru as a father figure; they have been the only people who have actually seen him as something good.
The movie ties to how the power of God’s love can transform a person’s heart. God’s love can change even the coldest heard from within. The film genuinely demonstrates the spiritual heart “transplant” that a person goes through when kindness, love, and acceptance are demonstrated.

As Matthew 18:20 so truly declares, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them,” (NIV) God was with Margo, Edith, and Agnes that night in the orphanage when they prayed for some kind, loving parents. However, these three sweet girls did not expect the kid-hating villain Gru to show up at Miss Hattie’s Orphanage to ‘adopt’ them. Gru’s reason for giving the girls a home has a deeper, more selfish meaning: he is using them for his plan to steal the moon! An aspect of the movie that really got me was how adorable the three girls were, especially the littlest one. Who could resist their sweet, big, innocent eyes and their playful spirits? As it turns out, even gruff, selfish, accent-bearing Gru falls in paternal love with these imaginative girls, and he will do anything to see them happy. Based on a story by Sergio Pablos and directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, Despicable Me is a heartwarming story about a man whose sometimes-indifferent mother caused him some pain while growing up. He at first treats his own ‘children’ the way his mother treated him, but then the three girls show him what it truly means to have a family. Pablo is associated with various Disney animated movies such as Tarzan, and Renaud with Ice Age and Horton Hears a Who. Despicable Me is very suitable for every audience and it relays the important message that family is about the people you love, not always the nuclear image of perfection. In other words, families come in all shapes and sizes. Towards the finale of this meaningful story, we see a connection with how God really does answer our prayers—even if it seems like the answer is the opposite of what we asked for.

“It’s like my heart is a tooth, and it’s got a cavity that can only be filled with children,” expresses Gru, from the Pixar movie Despicable Me, about his love for the three little girls. Directed by Pierre Coffi, Despicable Me can reverberate humorous scenes and fun memories when talked about with others. The suspense, such as when Gru snuck inside Vector’s, the other villain, house, and bright animation makes the movie memorable. The fiction of the movie and the humorously outrageous acts, such as a villain stealing the big Egyptian pyramid and leaving an inflated one in place, makes the viewer laugh out happily. Although the movie seems more likely intended for children, it also is watchable by all ages, because of the suspenseful plot and the idea of loans in the economy injected into the movie. One of the main villain, Gru, can be said to be the Microsoft Inventor, and the other villain may represent Bill Gates. Adults may enjoy analyzing the movie in an economist point of view. The wide range of ideas in the movie may the movie enjoyable by many different people, thus it has been ranked as one of the best movies to watch. Spiritually, the movie expresses a theme of sacrifice. Just as Jesus, who loved His children, sacrificed his life for us, Gru had to sacrifice his reputation and desires to save the little girls lives and make them happy. In the end, his heart has finally placed a cavity just for his love for the children.

The popular Pixar movie “Despicable Me” that won over the hearts of many was directed by Pierre Coffin, who became well known for his previous film “We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story.” The story revolves around a guy named Gru, who is trying to make a name for himself as the worst villain to ever exist. In order for him reach his goal, he adopts three little girls in hopes of them helping him defeat his arch nemesis Vector. Although at first the girls were just a part of Gru’s evil plan, he becomes attached to them and begins to see them as his own kids. The film uses Gru’s unexpected love for the kids and their humorous adventures together as a way of getting the audience’s attention. Some people might view this movie as just another funny kids film but others may actually get a message out of it. The film shows the importance of family and how they can give you a sense of belonging, even if you’re not technically related like Gru and the girls. Another message that the film is illustrating to the viewer is that sometimes we need to put our personal goals aside to care for those who we love. Gru showed us how God can change the heart of even the most coldhearted people as long as they give Him a chance. Gru’s heart was transformed after giving the little girls a chance instead of getting rid of them after they served his initial purpose of helping him defeat Vector.

Despicable Me starring, Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russel Brand, and Julie Andrews along with other actors. It was directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. The story begins with Gru (Steve Carell) who is a criminal mastermind that is trying the be the vest supervillan around. Suddenly an Egyptian pyramid is stolen and not by him. His pride is damage and therefore he develops a plan to steal the moon. Gru then adopts three little girls to help him with his master plan. However he then develops love and compassion to the three girls and finds happiness in being their father. Therefore drops the whole supervillan act and live as a happy family. This film is intended for all audiences with its main focus on children of course. Its humor and storyline is one that all can enjoy. The way this film can relate to God is by the love that was shown through the characters. Although Grus intentions were far from love the time that he spent with the three little girls made him have a change of heart. I believe with God in our lives we can all experience a change of heart for the better. We just have to be open to it and willing to let Him change us the way He knows is best. Gods love for us is unconditional just like a fathers love for his daughters.

“Despicable Me” is a funny animated movie written by Ken Daurio and directed by Pierre Coffin. This movie is about a villain named Gru who always to be the greatest villain and he will do anything to achieve it. Three little girls who live in an orphanage pray every night for a nice family to adopt them. However, what they don’t know is that the person who does adopt them is only using them to get to the moon. This film uses a lot of humorous aspects to it and is very fun to watch to attract the viewers. Its animation is also used to attract the audience. Everyone can watch this movie because it’s appropriate for everyone and is very cute in the end. I believe that this film passages on the message of the value of hard work and how it will pay off in the end no matter what happens in between. There will be people who will come in your way and shut you down, but then there are people who will help you and understand you. In the end, I saw a lot of the importance of family and love. Gru hated children in the beginning and only used them for his benefit, but in the end he put aside everything for the girls. I believe that God, like Gru, cares for all his children too and will do anything to keep us happy. No matter what happens, God will always save us and love us.

The movie Despicable Me was directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. Together they have come together to create one of my favorite films. Animated films don’t really keep my attention but this one definitely did. One of the elements that kept me interested in this movie was definitely the comedy in the movie. I thought this movie was absolutely hilarious. The minions in the movie had my attention because they were my favorite characters. The message being portrayed in this movie was a simple message of love. We need to open ourselves up to care and change others lives and in turn they will change our lives as well. Some of the points expressed in this movie include a evil scientist trying to become the best out there. So he is basically trying to steal all of these amazing objects. After great disappointment he decides to adopt these three little girls and adopt them and use them to finish his master plan. Through the course of the movie the evil scientist learns to love these little girls and decides that there is more to life then himself and his own goals. I think this movie is saying that sometimes we are caught up in doing our own thing. We forget about those around us and sometimes God uses the most random ways to reach us and bring us back to him and his love.

In 2010, an animated family film by the name of “Despicable Me” hit the big screen. This heartfelt tale written by Ken Daurio tells the story of a villain named Gru who wants to be known as the greatest villain in all the world. Another villain one-ups him, so he devises the master plan to steal the moon. While plotting his scheme, he realizes he needs children to help him, so he adopts three young girls, who in time, warm his heart and make Gru realize that there is more to life than being evil and wicked. The film attracts viewers with its star studded cast chocked full with the voices of Steve Carrell, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, and Kristin Wiig. The message that I think the writers wanted to portray is that fame and popularity is not what is vital to life in this world. Sure, Gru had the fame and love from his “minions,” but he realized that life had so much more to offer when he had the love of three young children that he could become a family with. Family is what matters most. People are put in our lives by God with a purpose. The girls prayed for someone to adopt them, and their prayers were not only answered, but they became angels to someone who needed a new life. We may have big dreams for our lives to be successful, famous, or the best and biggest at something, but sometimes our lives are meant for smaller things that will make a much bigger impact on the world.

The awesome movie “Despicable Me” was directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. It is about a “supervillan” named Gru, who tries too hard to do evil stuff. He plans to steal the moon but for this to happen, he needs the help of three little orphan girls who he decides to adopt as part of the plan. Vector, who is more successful than him, is the antagonist of the story. The film is an animated comedy which attracts children and their families. It’s message is about parenting and how big love can grow even in the weirdest of situations. In the beginning we see Gru as an awkward and selfish human being but he grows fond of the girls and cares for them so much , he decides to stay with them and form one big happy family. The family they all deserved. Since little, Gru never really felt the support he wanted and needed from his mom whenever he would create a new device. He felt as if he could never make his mom proud or surprise her. She seemed always busy and nonchalant. This message is being communicated because in order to be good individuals we need that foundation based on the love only parents can give us, just like we need God in our lives. The spirituality of the movie is in the message itself. We need to accept the fact that God, our father, loves us and everything is possible because of him.

The animated film “Despicable Me” was written by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul. The two of them have worked on movies such as “Horton Hears A Who” and “The Santa Clause 2.” The movie is about a villain named Gru aspiring to be the greatest villain ever, having to adopt three orphan girls in the process. The film uses animation and comedy to attract its audience, as well as taking a different perspective. Instead of going along with a hero movie, it uses a villain as its lead role. From what I saw, the film showed that Gru had to choose between his wants or the needs of the three little girls. Throughout the movie the girls continuously want Gru’s attention but all Gru can focus on is stealing the moon. This relates to how we are with God. Rather than doing the things that God wants us to do, we focus on what we want to do. For when we follow what God wants us to do, everything turns out for the better. When Gru finally decided to put the three girls first, his entire world changed for the better. He was a much happier and changed man. As soon as we put God first, we’ll be happier in life.

(Mistake on the other blog comment!) …you can compare him to a modern day sinner in this world that wants to do whatever we want and still have Jesus on our aide when we need him. But God doesn’t work like that he wants you to he on his side or nothing. So the movie goes on with gru the main villain and not being the number one that he was being taking over by jealousy what we all humans go through. We need to know how to control our jealousy to not ruin our lives be because it can lead to other sins. Anyways he gets a life changing moment in his life 3 lil girls he “accendently” adopts for the wrong purpose. But through time and cute moments the lil girls break the hard shell the gru has and they all become attached to each other. He loses them in the movie and gets them back just like Jesus did. Theirs many comparisons in this movie that can semi be related to biblical stories. Very cute good movie!

Despicable Me is a story of Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world, he is going to steal the moon. Armed with his crazy shrink rays, freeze rays as he disappears all who stand in his way. Until the day he meets three little orphaned girls who look at him and see him for him. The world’s greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes. The story is original and the plot is very well developed. The cast of voices is great. Steve Carell is Gru, Jason Segel as Vector, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo and Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario everyone delivering very good performances. Pierre Coffin did an awesome job as he made the film entertaining, funny and enjoyable. It has a very good animation, which is fun for all ages. We see the power of Love in this film as some one gives all he has to save the three little girls, reminding us about Jesus on the Cross. Over all it was a totally worthy film. Best homework so far.

The film “Despicable Me” writen by Ken Daurio Coffin is an animated comedy film that was directed by Pierre Coffin. The movie begins with a man named Guru that was a super villian and was thebest supervillian, until Vector came around. Guru was a man that didn’t care for anyone and the only thing he wanted to do was own the moon. The movie then follows with Guru adopting three little girls to get his plan to work. As the movie came to an end Guru got the moon,(which he wanted) but didn’t have the little girls anymore. The message that was brought througout the movie was that everyone needs love in their life and a family. The film shows this message by having Guru adopt the girls without any feeling towards having them, as his daughters, and in the end he cares for them very much and doesn’t care about the moon. Other people may find different messages all depending on how they interpet the movie. One in example may be that anyone has kindness in their heart but are just scared to show emotion. In addition the movie used a lot of comedy and some sentimental parts to express the message of the movie. As for the spiritual message, anyone can say that Guru is like our God, in the aspect that he cares for all his children. That he would do anything for his children because he is there for protection. Another message could be that God wants us to love and feel emotion, to care for others just as much as he loves and cares for us.

“Despicable Me” is a Pixar movie that was directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. The plot of this movie follows Gru, who aspires to be the worst villain. Gru finds himself in a competition with a new villain named Vector. In order to achieve his goal, he adopts three orphan little girls, name Margo, Edith, and Agnes, in hopes of helping him carry out his plan and defeat his opponent, Vector. Later Gru becomes attached to the little girls and begins to view them as his own kids while to them almost like their own father. The creative technique that was being used to attract the audience was humor, animated movie, and Gru’s unexpected love for his beloved three girls. Some may view this film simply as an animated movie for kids to watch while others, in particular grown-ups, may view this film as a movie that can teach little children about love, care, and kindness. The message illustrates a paternal love and that a man is willing to sacrifice his utmost possession for the three little girls, even if they are not blood-related. The spiritual message was how God and Gru are alike. Similar to Gru, God gave up his valuable possession referring to Jesus; He sent His one and only Son to the earth to save us. It is a very difficult decision to make however, it all comes down to a fatherly love.

  18. Christos Nikiforou says:

Pixar hit the world with the huge success called Despicable Me. Directed by Ken Duarrio Coffin, Despicable Me is an animated film about a supervillain, Gru. Gru sets goals beyond any imagination, to steal the moon. Eventually he is able to fullfill his goal but at that point he didnt have the girls. The movie, since it is an animated movie is intended for everyone, especially little kids because of its humor. Kids though might view this film just as a fun animated film, but adults may be able to see something deeper than that.Even though Gru hated the three girls in the beggining he ended up loving them as they were his own children. At first they were just objects for him but later they were part of his heart, and that is a message that is being portrayed here. That family, bonds people and creates amazingly strong connections between people. Who would have thought that a supervillain would end up loving those kids? But yet it happened, and it shows that miracles still happen and God allows them to happen. God wants us to be loving and experience the feeling of love, especially from family members. They are the ones who we always be by our side and they will help us in every little aspect of our lives. Another message could be, that by hard work and by having faith in what you do, someone will notice and you will get what you deserve, even though it might take while it will happen at some point.

  19. Greggory Bartholomew says:

It is a must for anybody reviewing Despicable Me to say that it is in fact an excellent family movie. The film itself was directed by Pierre Coffin, and was produced by John Cohen. It also includes famous actors like Steve Carrell, Julie Andrew, and Miranda Cosgrove. The film relates to the general audience with common tactics such as kid-friendly orchestral music, brightly colored short people, and out-of-the-ordinary designs, from animals to physical human shapes. A message incorporated in this film would be to take care of your family, and always do what you can to be there for them. However, another message that most people can understand from almost every family movie would be to avoid letting one’s occupations and/or hobbies take precedence over one’s family and friends. I personally believe these messages are being communicated not merely to follow the trend every other family movie follows, but to support past attempts hollywood has made in educating the general American public on how important it is to spend time with your loved ones. From what I can see, the lifestyles that this film is trying to educate would be those of upper and middle-class financial status, as these two classes usually have the most relational problems. And finally, I believe the spiritual message of this film is that at some times, it may seem like God is not listening to us, but in fact, it can be quite contrary when He showers us with blessings later on. I felt this video was very different from most movies produced nowadays, and that more similar to it should be created.

“Superbad. Superdad.” That is what “Despicable Me” quotes on its cover, describing the mischievous and super-evil villain Mr. Gru in this movie. Creators Ken Daurio and Sergio Pablos, did a magnificent job in creating the storyline of this Dreamworks film whom was directed by Pierre Coffin (A.K.A. the voice for the minions) and Chris Renaud. Stars such as Steve Carell (playing Mr. Gru) and Jason Segel (playing Vector, Mr. Gru’s arch-enemy) make the film an enjoyable comedy with the voice of their hilarious characters- along with 3 adorable orphaned girls whose wish is to only have a real family. This film might have been directed for the watching of children, but I think anyone of any age can sit down and have a good laugh because of its great humor and touching moments. “Despicable Me” shows that there is good in everyone, no matter how evil of a villain one might appear to be. Dr, Gru softens and opens up with Agnes, Edith, and Margo throughout the movie as he spends more time with them, while learning the value of love, family, and unity. Perhaps the creators of this film wanted to omit just that- the importance of having love for others and never judging a book by its cover, virtually what the bible teaches in the New Testament. This film is a huge success, thanks to the creators, characters, and the love messages that are being portrayed, and I hope everyone continues to find the positive points in “Despicable Me.”

  21. Evan Aumack says:

Directed by Pierre Coffin, Despicable Me is a movie about an aging super villain who is struggling to stay relevant in a world of younger villains. He plans a heist that will prove him to be the best super villain once and for all. He devises a plan to use three little orphan girls to help steal a special shrink ray for which he would need to steal the moon. He did not, however, plan on falling in love with the three girls and wanting to keep them as his own. The cute, animated style of this movie appeals to all age groups. I believe that the message about God in Despicable Me is a simple one. Gru had been a villain for most of his life and was used to being evil. But then, a change came upon him in the form of three little girls that caused him to reconsider his outlook on life. God is always throwing things at us that can cause change hoping that we’ll eventually figure it out and become better people. We don’t always know what these things look like or how they’ll affect us, but once we accept it and try to change, we turn out for the better. Gru didn’t have to choose the girls and he didn’t know what was going to happen if he did, but he took the chance and his life improved because of it.
